Welcome to the official Freedom 180 Website!

Freedom 180, the Abstinence Education Project of the Florida Department of Health in Bay County, was established in 2001. It is currently funded by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services, Bureau of Family and Community Health Abstinence Education Program grant. Our program promotes healthy lifestyle choices for youth. We encourage positive youth development through STD and pregnancy prevention, goal setting, healthy relationships and abstinence from sex, drugs, and alcohol. The project assists the Florida Department of Health in its effort to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in youth.

Safe Sex? The Truth:

Safe Sex? The Truth:

Condom use is on the rise among teens, yet STD rates continue to rise. Teen Pregnancy rates have
dramatically decreased since 1991. Some claim that it was largely due to an increase in condom and
contraceptive use. During that same time frame, however, STD’s increased from 15 million new cases a year to 19 million new cases a year. Almost half of those are contributed by teens.
Abstinence is the ONLY 100% effective method of not getting an STD or getting pregnant.
